Research in Schools

About us > Research in Schools

Catholic Education Melbourne remains committed to building communities of learning that provide safe, nurturing and academically stimulating environments for all children.

Catholic Education Melbourne, also a learning community:

  • engages in research that is closely aligned with the priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan 2015–2019
  • approves requests from individuals and institutional researchers seeking to undertake research in Catholic schools.

Research conducted in schools is undertaken on the basis that the findings may assist in improving student outcomes and increase school effectiveness.

Research in areas beyond the immediate concerns of schools is also conducted when it can be demonstrated that the findings may have a potential benefit for the participants themselves.

Researchers wishing to undertake research in Melbourne Catholic schools should review Policy 2.8 Researchers in Catholic Schools and Access to Data on Catholic Schools which includes:

  • the procedure for obtaining approval
  • requirements for ethics approval
  • a link to Catholic Education Melbourne’s Research Register with an online application form
  • the Research Register User Guide for Researchers.
